I'm sure there are others who can give far better details but I wanted to give
my impressions of the Middle Kingdom Cook's Collegium this past weekend.

The gate was around 100 people from four kingdoms so that should give an
indication on how well this was received. There were classes ranging from
chicken slaughtering to Roman cheeses to Ottoman cuisine to how to redact
recipes to dining manners in Elizabethan England to....well, you get the idea.

The site was a lovely little church with many teaching rooms, a nice hall and
a well-equipped kitchen. A lunch tavern provided period fare and that night
a fabulous potluck created a groaning table. Venison, pheasant, chicken, beef,
pork, pumpkin, custards, tarts, breads, sweets, period drinks, and a host of
other dishes were offered to the happy diners.

I'm happy to say that they were very kind and my classes were well-received
even if one of them consisted of how easily a good feast can get ruined.

Master Phillip and the rest of his staff did a fantastic job in putting this on and
I'm amazed that I was part of the cleanup crew and we were out of there before
9:00 pm that night!

I met a great many lovely people and fell in love with the Midrealm.

Thank you all who attended and to those of you who didn't attend then I have to
say you missed out on a wonderful gathering of cooks!

Yers,
