Now I know what you mean. I think of that as a portable Roman stove. I'm having one made for me. Duke Alaric in Drachenwald has one and it looks like a very cool thing to play with.

I am not a potter, but I have used pottery to cook with over fire several times now. Yes, if you do not pay attention to how you heat it and how hot it gets, it will crack. If you do pay attention, it works just fine.

Mercy just sent me a lovely pottery chafing dish and I'm looking forward to trying it out.
