[Sca-cooks] How long does pepper retain its potency?

If would expect some dust in whole peppercorns (at lease with black peppercorns, which are rough), and so some sneezes. After all, a new bottle of whole peppercorns are sneezy, at least partly because the rough sides tend to crumble a little against each other and create pepper dust (and all that entails).

That makes sense.  However, it would be whole peppercorns, not ground,
so I assume that means no sneezing.
