So if you want a better quality honey buy from a local aviary and look to
see if the country of origin is the US.
Honey from Canada is considered safe but all other countries are considered
suspect.

I assume there are quarantine concerns with varroa bee mite amongst other
things.  So while New Zealand has great quality and unique honeys, it
abandoned the last internal quarantine line years ago.  No problem with the
honey, but the extra cost to try and protect the bees ....  And still they
have decided that it's inevitable that hives in all areas are going to be
infected.  So boarder protection is essential.
