I saw a reference to sour syrup (siropus acetosus) in a couple of the Tacuinum Sanitatis manuscripts. Does anyone have any idea as to what it might be? In both manuscripts, the images associated with it show a merchant dispensing a jar to a customer. -- Galefridus
