This is so cool!

At al-Barran (Outlands) Arts and Sciences competition, our Baron and Baroness announced the creation of an award (non-amerigious I think) for those cooks who serve the masses on the field, the feasters in the hall with tasty period creations, and do it "willingly" and with grace and beauty. SO COOL!!!! Sorry, I said that already. It is the Order of the Scorpion's Spoon. Gives recognition to we cooks who can so easily fall into the chasm between service and art.

Does something like this exist any where else?

I judged, but there were no food entries so i got performance, letters, weaving (!) and woodworking (!) to judge. Weird.

I did teach my Early Irish Food class (with samples). About a dozen people attended, including the Baroness who is no stranger to the kitchen crew. Well received, and I am in negotiations for a smallish (80?) early Irish feast for the 2013 schedule.
