Never said it was cheaper. Amazon lists a few copies for nearly $400 in the USA. 
Mine was a bargain at $127 back in 2001. Then B&N raised price to 250.

Food and Foodways of Medieval Cairenes (Islamic History and Civilization) [Hardcover]
 which is the new one with all the information (no recipes) is priced at $268 on Amazon. I just saw one volume yesterday
that was listed at $800. Brill is never cheap.

However, if your library subscribes you may be able to view it or download it for free.
