[Sca-cooks] Diabetic needs - was: Minor rant

Mine too. :-) A well balanced meal makes it easy for diabetics. Thinking about it, I think some people who come to events I've cooked for did say they were diabetic, but there weren't any special accommodations I needed to make for them at all. I've had a few people who said that if it was possible, they needed to eat small portions throughout the day, and I've offered to them that if they ever needed something to eat, they could come and ask and I'd find something that was available. These people do tend to bring some of their own snacks, when possible, and also tend to balance things out by coming and helping in the kitchen.

Oh, heck, if you ever come to one of my feasts, just put it in your booing :-).  A little adjustment for people with genuine health concerns really isn't a big deal. I find diabetics are some of the easiest people to cater for, anyway, since they usually like things that I like-- meat dishes without excessive fat, plenty of vegetables, meals that don't rely on too many starchy carbs...
