NPR did a segment on the new cookbook A Feast of Ice and Fire today.

The Here and Now website contains photos so it's worth a look.

A Feast of Ice and Fire: The Official Companion Cookbook by Chelsea Monroe-Cassel, George R. R. Martin, Sariann Lehrer was published yesterday so the PR has just begun.

The original blog is at:

The authors talked today about listing authentic recipes from the Middle Ages and Elizabethan times but then they have developed their own modern versions.

I didn't quite get why the recipe for serving a horse's heart turned into a red velvet cupcake but… the description notes "These easy-to-follow recipes have been refined for modern cooking techniques, but adventurous eaters can also attempt the authentic medieval meals that inspired them. The authors have also suggested substitutions for some of the more fantastical ingredients, so you won’t have to stock your kitchen with camel, live doves, or dragon eggs to create meals fit for a king (or a khaleesi). In all, A Feast of Ice and Fire contains more than 100 recipes, divided by region…." This is the official cookbook and contains the introduction by George R.R. Martin.

Published earlier in the spring was:

The Unofficial Game of Thrones Cookbook: From Direwolf Ale to Auroch Stew - More Than 150 Recipes from Westeros and Beyond by Alan Kistler which is being paired with The Unofficial Hunger Games Cookbook: From Lamb Stew to "Groosling" - More than 150 Recipes Inspired by The Hunger Games Trilogy. Reviews haven't been kind for either of these.
