It can be either a treatment of copper to produce a green patina or a green pigment consisting of copper acetate and other various copper compounds made from copper and vinegar.

As this is a food list it should be noted that verdigris is quite poisonous. It should be handled with gloves and cleaned up with lots of soap and water.

It should NOT get anywhere near food or food preparation areas.
