Doursther, Horace "Dictionnaire universel des poids et mesures anciens" 
says:

contient 134.4 pouces cubes anglais = 3.8778 pintes impériales = 2.2023 
litres.

In translation and summary:
Modern, for liquid or dry measure, 2.27173 litres
Ancient, for wine, 1.8926 litres
Ancient, the 'Winchester' pottle, for dry materials, 2.2023 litres
