are into authenticity are just that - into authenticity. But God forbid they
mention to someone that this or that isn't authentic. Whether they were as
polite as humanly possible, whether they simply mentioned it in passing or
gave a small lecture, whether they were initially asked by the other person,
ANY mention of authenticity automatically means that the person who made it
is an authenticity cop, and is castigating or otherwise looking down on the
person wearing/making the "offending" object.
Or then again, maybe you are getting it from the right end. At first, I
thought you were saying that the person interested in authenticity considered
*themselves* to be authenticity police, regardless of their actual attitude
towards instilling periodness in others :-).
It's a fine line, the road we authenticists walk - too far to one side, and
you can offend anybody, too far to the other, and you'll still offend anybody
who wants a reason to be offended :-)
