[Sca-cooks] Help with Italian word - can't find translation.

You're welcome.  I ran into a few doozies when working on de Nola. The
strangest was "aceite de bazo", meaning "oil from the spleen".  When I
checked the facsimile, it actually said "aceite debaxo", (archaic spelling
of "aceite debajo"), meaning "oil underneath".

If the spelling in the original matches the facsimile, it might be a
scribal error.  Think about possible spelling errors and try those
variations in your dictionaries.  Maybe someone who knows Italian will be
able to suggest some possibilities.
