[Sca-cooks] Pot lucks when you fly to an event

This might have been discussed previously, but I don't remember.
If you are flying in to such an event, and you may take hotel transportation directly to the event site, how do you handle pot lucks? While you could not bring something and depend upon the hospitality of others, that runs counter to the ideals of the SCA.
Given packing room and the right choice of dish, I can see that some hardish cookies or biscuits might be baked and brought along, but I'm not really liking this idea.
So how do folks handle this?
