The spire has fallen but the bell towers may have been saved. I will take
the hope that is offered.

I remember climbing the bell tower stairs well in 2008. They were well-worn
as well as well-steeped in history. I remember thinking the phrase dizzying
heights must have referred to how you felt after climbing stories of spiral
staircases - but getting to the view at the top was so worth it.
