I did one last Saturday.

14 items in a big wooden bowl:
apple
avocado
banana
bell pepper
cucumber
eggplant
garlic
green bean
lemon
nutmeg
sweet potato
tomato
vanilla bean
yellow squash

See, equal number of old & new as the gimmee.

If they managed to sort them, I gave them a piece of shortbread.  Yes, I gave lots of prompts.  If they still bombed out, I gave them a rock.  (yep, the Charlie Brown prize)

I don't remember who on this list first posted this game, but it works really well.
