I'm quite entertained by the back and forth about tomatoes etc. 
Especially when it devolves to something that sounds *way* too much
like "this isn't food until a European stuffs it in his piehole"

This is why when I play the Old World/New World game at demos, I am
very specific that I want them to sort the foods by original growing
region, not current transplant.  There is much laughter all around as
people learn that bananas are from India, not Central America and that
eggplants are the only edible Old World nightshade.

But I am worried by how few people know what Old/New World means...
