Ohiyo Gozaimas!
Here is some info of note for scribes attending GW8. Those of you who
pre-registered for GW8 should be getting your pre-site books about now.
Some of this is in there and some isn't.
There will be a scribe's point, in a building known as "The Dungeon"
(the building formerly known as the Bungalow) across the street form
Troll. Scribes point is held in the same area as the RUM (Royal
University of Meridies) Library, it should be reletively well-lit and
clean and there will be tables and chairs and a photocopier. It is air
conditioned/heated and there's a bathroom nearby.
Scribe's point is open 9AM to 9PM except Saturday, when it will shut
down at noon, for the filling out of scrolls for Great Court.
You may earn volunteer hours painting scrolls at Scribe's point. When
all the event scrolls are done we will begin on Meridies' award scrolls,
which are photocopies to be colored. You do not have to bring your own
paint or brushes but if you use what we provide, it may be less than
your usual standards of materials. Loitering scribes may also be asked
to render heraldic sketches for Herald's point. You are welcome to bring
your own things and work on them there. Since we are expecting royalty
from just about every kingdom except maybe Drachenwald I'm sure there
will be at least a few last-minute scrolls being made.
*****On Thursday from 5PM to 7PM outside the dungeon on the shores of
Loch Zach Scribe's point will be hosting the Known World Scribe's
Social! Everyone is invited, not just scribes! There will be
refreshments and refreshments. If the weather is poor we'll just go
inside. We are knocking off at 7 since AFAIK Thursday night is moonlight
madness night in the merchant area. :)
If you have any questions, please e-mail me. I'll reply back to the list
if it's of interest to everyone in general.

FYI: RUM is the system of tracking teachers & classes in Meridies. The
RUM library is a gathering of books from private sources for the general
use of the populace during the event. SCA members bring their books and
allow other folks to look at them, then they take them home at the end
of the event. The books never leave the room, but photocopies may be
made of them. I will be bringing several books to contribute to the RUM
library, mostly MS reproductions and general purpose fine/scribal arts
books. Make sure your name is inside the cover in case someone else
brings a copy, too.
