My father was an architect, and he had some very small, tiny dots put in the corners of some works
he regular cut down.   It was not a line of dots (as in a dotted line), but rather, just ONE in
the corners, one in the middle of the 'cut line', from corner to corner to be used as a guide for
the ruler.  They were very unobtrusive, and most folks would think it was just a bit of toner
overink on the paper.
