Scribes in the DFW area, check out the lectures and workshops available in conjunction with the
"Painted Prayers' Illumination exhibit.

**Workshops: 
Painted Letters/Painted Pages
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Saturdays, 10 a.m.–noon
Guest artist J. George Gintole will lead in-depth workshops that explore new approaches to
calligraphy. Offered in conjunction with the special exhibition Painted Prayers: Medieval and
Renaissance Books of Hours from the Morgan Library, these workshops invite participants to
experiment with text-based art and to consider how calligraphy may be read both literally and
aesthetically. The materials fee for each workshop is $65 ($52 for Kimbell members). Space is
limited.

Blackletter: Structures of the Medieval Letter
Examine northern versus southern European models for the painted word and create new
interpretations through painting, drawing, and construction.
November 1   &    December 6

Painted Pages
Bring fresh perspectives to age-old traditions as we experiment with dry and wet media to build
painted surfaces rich in both material and meaning.
November 8   &    December 13
