demonstrating 'Pattern Making for Heraldic Display' using opaque projector
at various times throughout the day.

Her Excellency Chrystal Ariana MacRuari will be co-ordinating charter
painting during the day.

HL Etienne de St. Amaranth will hold a mock court here after lunch for the
populace to allow his court heraldry students to get practical experience
with their lessons.

Early Period Illumination - It's Not Just the Book of Kells
Mistress Radegund of Tours
--No fee. This will be an beginner's overview class, exploring Roman,
Merovingian, Carolingian, Ottonian and Spanish book illumination
from the 5th through the 11th centuries.

Beginning Whitework

--Fee: $4 if you'd like to keep the brush. Otherwise, none.
Materials required: Materials will be provided. 
Level of the class: Beginner, but charter painting experience is helpful.
Class size: Limited to 10 for hands-on instruction.
Others may sit in to watch.

Designing Kingdom Award Charters

--Materials and cost requirements for students, none.
Targeted level of the class, medium experience with scroll painting and
illumination or calligraphy.

Color Palettes of Medieval and Renaissance Illuminators
Mistress Serena Lascelles
--Students should bring note-taking supplies and any paints they want
assessed for "periodness" of color; no cost; no handout; no class size limit.
Beginner-intermediate; especially designed for charter painters
CLASS DESCRIPTION: This lecture class will provide the student with
knowledge of the basic color palettes used in various different styles of
pre-seventeenth century illumination. Actual color samples of paints made
from pigments known in period will be exhibited. Emphasis will be on styles
most often used in painting Ansteorran charters. Instructor has studied the
history of illuminator's pigments for over fifteen years, including
attending real-world professional seminars on the subject. Students are
encouraged to bring any paints they would like the instructor to assess for
"period-ness" of color, and note-taking supplies. Class is free; there is no
handout.

Period Legal Document Design

--Designing Period-style "Scrolls" for SCA Use
Students should bring note-taking supplies; no cost; short handout; no class
size limit
Intermediate-Advanced (This course is not for charter painters or charter
designers!)
CLASS DESCRIPTION: This lecture class will provide an introduction to
designing handmade legal documents ("original scrolls") as they were made in
period. THIS CLASS IS NO LONGER JUST FOR CALLIGRAPHERS! Illuminators, y'all
come! I will present my very latest research into the topic, including the
limited role of illumination in such documents.  (Over the course of fifteen
years of research and study on the topic, this class has changed a lot!)
Examples shown will include both letters patent and "achievement scrolls". 
Students are encouraged to bring note-taking supplies. A handout of pictures
will be provided at no cost to students.
