Happy Holidays from Hillary!!
(say that real fast 10 times :-)

As the year draws to a close, on this winter solstace day, I send you Holiday greetings, and thank
you all for the wonderful work you have done this year.
Thanks to all the scroll designers, calligraphers, illuminators and lynmers (charter painters) who
have put their heart and soul into their artwork. Without your efforts, this game we play would
be a little less special.

Lots of cool scribal opportunities coming up in year 2006:
* Coronation:
all day charter paint table, populace choice scroll competition and college of scribes meeting.

* Candlemas:
'Scribal Salon' with our founders, former Star Signets of Ansteorra sharing tales of how things
were done during their watch, and why things have changed over time. This is a rare opportunity
to see history in action. (this is a repeat of what was 'supposed' to happen at Bryn Gwlad this
fall) Don't miss it.

* March - Gulf Wars:
Lots of scribal classes in the Scribes Bldg (yes, it's still standing), and a full week of
painting scrolls. Yippee!

* May - Steppes Warlord
Often an opportunity for scribal classes to teach and learn.

* June - Knowne World Heraldic and Scribal Symposium (KWHSS)
It's still ON!! for New Orleans near the French Quarter (which was predominantly unaffected by the
flooding). Gleann Ahbann will welcome classes from Ansteorrans to make this SCA-wide event a
success. If you have never attended a KWHSS then don't miss this one.

* June or July - Ansteorra Heraldic and Scribal Symposium
Date to be announced, but last year was a great one, get your classes together for this summer
another great year.

* June or July - Kings College
Another great opportunity to take and teach scribal classes.

* August - Pennsic Wars
Pennsic is a mecca with a weeks worth of scribal classes from knowne world teachers, many with
professional credentials. I'm planning to attend this year - perhaps you will too!!

Well, I'm sure there is lots more, but that's a start.
I'm tired already and will think about the fall later.
So get your brushes loaded and your pens primed...

Happy Holidays and looking forward to the new year!
Cheers, Hillary Greenslade
Star Signet

(PS. I will be offline till Tuesday, Dec. 27th)
