Greetings all!
On June 16th, heralds and scribes from all over the Known World
will converge on Gleann Abhann for a weekend of knowledge sharing,
comraderie, and general fun. It's the 2006 Known World Heraldic and
Scribal Symposium, and it's happening in Metairie, LA at the Four
Points by Sheraton New Orleans.
Heralds, it's a great chance to meet your counterparts from other
kingdoms, to learn about names and devices and how to be a better
herald, and to show off a bit.
Scribes -- it's your chance to show off, too. Bring your best
pieces (framed ones, preferably) to display in our common area.
Take classes on everything from calligraphy to diapering, and meet
other scribes and signets from all over.
New to heraldry or illumination? There's a place for you, too.
In addition to advanced courses, there's a whole track dedicated to
the new scribe, and classes helpful to any new herald.
There's also a Laurel Roadshow Sunday morning, for those who want
to learn about the process names and arms go through on their way to
being registered. A trip to the New Orleans Museum of Art is set
for Sunday morning for artists who want to take a close look at neat
stuff.
And dinner... well, we're giving you the opportunity to see the
area. Groups will be organized at the event to visit local and area
eateries. Can't come to Gleann Abhann without trying the local
cuisine!
Need a souvenir? T-shirts and bags will be available with the
ever-attractive KWHSS 2006 logo for the bargain price of $12.
Proceedings are also still available for $15 -- that includes your
copy plus a CD-ROM. Want one but can't come? All three will be
available for sell after the event... watch for your order form.

Friday
5pm Site opens/Commons Room opens, merchants open
7-10pm Herald and Scribe gathering in Commons Room
11pm Commons Room closes

Saturday
7am Commons Room opens/Scribal Display Set-Up Begins
8am Classes begin (check out

12 noon LUNCH BREAK
1:30pm Classes resume
5:30pm Classes end
5:45pm Opportunity for group pictures
6pm The court of Their Majesties Havordh and Mary-Grace

Sunday
9am Laurel Roadshow
9:15am Non-heralds gather in lobby for trip to New Orleans Museum
of Art ($8 for non-residents, free for Louisiana residents)
12 noon Roadshow and event officially end
1pm Attendees return from NOMA
