"James I, King of England, Scotland and Ireland, conferred the Order of the
Garter on Prince Maurice in 1613. On 4 February, the prestigious decoration
was presented by the English ambassador in The Hague. The event was
celebrated with all kinds of souvenir items, such as this damask knapkin. It
was probably woven at the workplace of damask weaver Passchier Lammertijn.
While this cloth is not signed, it was mentioned by Lammertijn in a patent
application for a special weaving technique. In addition to the arms of
Maurice himself, the knapkin also incorporates the arms, The arms of
Maurice's paternal ancestors are depicted on the left: from top to bottom
these are Nassau, Hesse, Stolberg, Königstein. On the right are the Prince's
maternal ancestors: Saxony, Mecklenburg, Königstein again (this should have
been Hesse) and Saxony again. of his predecessors. "

Just thought it was kinda cool and wanted to share,
