Unto the gifted artisans of the Knowne World, Greetings!

We are seeking artists from all Kingdoms to participate in a fundraising auction to benefit the Society at large. In these troubled financial times the Kingdom of the East will host an ambitious fundraiser during the Great Pennsic War. It is to be a magnificent gala and art auction featuring the most ambitious work you would be willing to donate to this worthy cause. The date and time has yet to be decided but it will definitely take place after the Pennsic arts and sciences exhibit so you will still be able to display them to the populace.

Donated items will be completed pieces only. Works in progress or promissories will not be accepted due to the large geographic area represented by the populace. Per state and Federal Law, alcohol will not be allowed to be auctioned but have no fear brewers and vintners! We will gladly accept donations of drink (and food from the cooks) to refresh the guests and lubricate their "uh" wallets. If we have too many pieces to auction in one evening, we reserve the right to put smaller pieces into a Chinese auction which will allow greater proceeds through the sale of raffle tickets.

The proceeds will be divided thusly. Each artist will declare for their own Kingdom. A record will be kept of the amount each piece sells for (or the amount earned by raffle tickets). Half of the proceeds from each piece will go to the artist's Kingdom and half will go to Society Corporate. The use of your Kingdom's portion will be decided entirely by your Majesties and their officers.

Start planning now! Attempt a work that will be renowned as being the most sought after piece of the year! This should be a great event and a wonderful chance to raise funds for our Society. Please contact us if you are interested in participating and we will send you a registry form or answer any questions you might have.

   A couple of months ago, there was discussion about compiling text for
Prize scrolls.  With the permission of Mistress Serena and the Star Signet,
I will be taking on this project.  If you have done any prize scrolls for
Kingdom Tournaments (Gulf Wars Rose Tourney, Ansteorran Squires Tourney,
Defenders of the Roses, Pennsic Rapier, etc) that are NOT official
championships (they're already taken care of), please contact me.
   Just send images of the scroll's text or a document containing just the
wording and I will create the database.  If you based the wording on
something from period, please let me know.  I think that would make a great
reference.

but I refuse (for a personal experience) to be on Facebook.

Where I prefer to discuss our SCA scribal matters and keep our  
discussions among ourselves without losing our privacy is

Personally, I see things like FB Groups as complement to the e-mail list, as opposed to a replacement, and I usually try to post things to both when I come across them. However, I did want to let you know that both the list archives and membership to the list are open to the public, and that our archives are available to search engines.

I somewhat agree with Lete.?? I know a lot of folks are hooked onto the Facebook social networks, just as we used to be active on Yahoo Groups.? But Ansteorra does own our own network were the e-mail groups are located.??

The primary advantage to using FB, in my opinion, such as the Yahoo Groups, is the ability to add documents and images, when one is referring to their works, and as a group involved in visual imagery, that can be an advantage, rather than waiting for someone to post an image up on the?Ansteorran Scribal Website.? The website issue can be resolved, if the site is designed as a Content Management?format, so specific persons have rights to update the page information without having to be a webdesigner... that maybe how it currently is setup, don't know.? 
?
However, a disadvantage - if someone is not using FB, then all posts will have to be double posted to both the FB site and the Ansteorran E-mail group, in order to keep ALL folks in the loop.? Who is going to make sure that happens regularly? 
This is already an issue on my local branch site, which uses both the kingdom e-mail lists and a FB page.? 
?
Be advised that FB does not copyright protect your original works, to my knowledge, so if you post images there, it can be taken by anyone.? 
** You should not post images of Ansteorran charters on the FB or any other site, save for the?Ansteorran Scribes webpages.???Ansteorra does use a strict copyright permission form for all submitted charters by the artisan:

Permissions are granted only to the use as a charter award, and/or to be put online at the Ansteorran website, only!

   A couple of months ago, there was discussion about compiling text for
Prize scrolls.  With the permission of Mistress Serena and the Star Signet,
I will be taking on this project.  If you have done any prize scrolls for
Kingdom Tournaments (Gulf Wars Rose Tourney, Ansteorran Squires Tourney,
Defenders of the Roses, Pennsic Rapier, etc) that are NOT official
championships (they're already taken care of), please contact me.
   Just send images of the scroll's text or a document containing just the
wording and I will create the database.  If you based the wording on
something from period, please let me know.  I think that would make a great
reference.

Personally, I see things like FB Groups as complement to the e-mail list, as opposed to a replacement, and I usually try to post things to both when I come across them. However, I did want to let you know that both the list archives and membership to the list are open to the public, and that our archives are available to search engines.

I somewhat agree with Lete.?? I know a lot of folks are hooked onto the Facebook social networks, just as we used to be active on Yahoo Groups.? But Ansteorra does own our own network were the e-mail groups are located.??

The primary advantage to using FB, in my opinion, such as the Yahoo Groups, is the ability to add documents and images, when one is referring to their works, and as a group involved in visual imagery, that can be an advantage, rather than waiting for someone to post an image up on the?Ansteorran Scribal Website.? The website issue can be resolved, if the site is designed as a Content Management?format, so specific persons have rights to update the page information without having to be a webdesigner... that maybe how it currently is setup, don't know.? 
?
However, a disadvantage - if someone is not using FB, then all posts will have to be double posted to both the FB site and the Ansteorran E-mail group, in order to keep ALL folks in the loop.? Who is going to make sure that happens regularly? 
This is already an issue on my local branch site, which uses both the kingdom e-mail lists and a FB page.? 
?
Be advised that FB does not copyright protect your original works, to my knowledge, so if you post images there, it can be taken by anyone.? 
** You should not post images of Ansteorran charters on the FB or any other site, save for the?Ansteorran Scribes webpages.???Ansteorra does use a strict copyright permission form for all submitted charters by the artisan:

Unto the gifted artisans of the Knowne World, Greetings!

We are seeking artists from all Kingdoms to participate in a fundraising auction to benefit the Society at large. In these troubled financial times the Kingdom of the East will host an ambitious fundraiser during the Great Pennsic War. It is to be a magnificent gala and art auction featuring the most ambitious work you would be willing to donate to this worthy cause. The date and time has yet to be decided but it will definitely take place after the Pennsic arts and sciences exhibit so you will still be able to display them to the populace.

Donated items will be completed pieces only. Works in progress or promissories will not be accepted due to the large geographic area represented by the populace. Per state and Federal Law, alcohol will not be allowed to be auctioned but have no fear brewers and vintners! We will gladly accept donations of drink (and food from the cooks) to refresh the guests and lubricate their "uh" wallets. If we have too many pieces to auction in one evening, we reserve the right to put smaller pieces into a Chinese auction which will allow greater proceeds through the sale of raffle tickets.

The proceeds will be divided thusly. Each artist will declare for their own Kingdom. A record will be kept of the amount each piece sells for (or the amount earned by raffle tickets). Half of the proceeds from each piece will go to the artist's Kingdom and half will go to Society Corporate. The use of your Kingdom's portion will be decided entirely by your Majesties and their officers.

Start planning now! Attempt a work that will be renowned as being the most sought after piece of the year! This should be a great event and a wonderful chance to raise funds for our Society. Greetings all,
   A couple of months ago, there was discussion about compiling text for
Prize scrolls.  With the permission of Mistress Serena and the Star Signet,
I will be taking on this project.  If you have done any prize scrolls for
Kingdom Tournaments (Gulf Wars Rose Tourney, Ansteorran Squires Tourney,
Defenders of the Roses, Pennsic Rapier, etc) that are NOT official
championships (they're already taken care of), please contact me.
   Just send images of the scroll's text or a document containing just the
wording and I will create the database.  If you based the wording on
something from period, please let me know.  I think that would make a great
reference.

but I refuse (for a personal experience) to be on Facebook.

Where I prefer to discuss our SCA scribal matters and keep our  
discussions among ourselves without losing our privacy is

Personally, I see things like FB Groups as complement to the e-mail list, as opposed to a replacement, and I usually try to post things to both when I come across them. However, I did want to let you know that both the list archives and membership to the list are open to the public, and that our archives are available to search engines.

I somewhat agree with Lete.?? I know a lot of folks are hooked onto the Facebook social networks, just as we used to be active on Yahoo Groups.? But Ansteorra does own our own network were the e-mail groups are located.??

The primary advantage to using FB, in my opinion, such as the Yahoo Groups, is the ability to add documents and images, when one is referring to their works, and as a group involved in visual imagery, that can be an advantage, rather than waiting for someone to post an image up on the?Ansteorran Scribal Website.? The website issue can be resolved, if the site is designed as a Content Management?format, so specific persons have rights to update the page information without having to be a webdesigner... that maybe how it currently is setup, don't know.? 
?
However, a disadvantage - if someone is not using FB, then all posts will have to be double posted to both the FB site and the Ansteorran E-mail group, in order to keep ALL folks in the loop.? Who is going to make sure that happens regularly? 
This is already an issue on my local branch site, which uses both the kingdom e-mail lists and a FB page.?

Be advised that FB does not copyright protect your original works, to my knowledge, so if you post images there, it can be taken by anyone.? 
** You should not post images of Ansteorran charters on the FB or any other site, save for the?Ansteorran Scribes webpages.???Ansteorra does use a strict copyright permission form for all submitted charters by the artisan:

Permissions are granted only to the use as a charter award, and/or to be put online at the Ansteorran website, only!
