Something that really seemed strange to me is that there were over 200
people at the event and very few of the people in attendance at the
meeting were general populace (not Officers, former Officers, SO's of
Officers,or Hats). If this is really "of the people..." why weren't more of them there? Knowing how opinions flavour the relaying of the outcome, why were so many people who could have heard things first hand content to hear it second hand...Do they not care???

I believe that many people are satisfied with playing in the SCA by attending their local fighter practices and perhaps a local, day long, tiny tourney. I know some of the local folks of Bryn Gwlad seem that way and I think that they really may not care because it will not influence their game. They'll continue to do what they do whether they're a kingdom or a principality. I truly don't believe it's malicious.

I DO believe that the announcements that Pendaran and I made at our fighter practices, where we explained the importance of the meeting may have had something to do with the number of folks that showed up from Bryn Gwlad. Although, a good number of our barony are "kingdom players" and would have been there regardless.

I strongly urge the other local barons/baronesses and seneschalls to explain the importance of these meetings at their local fighter practices. Perhaps this will give us more equitable representation at Fynnon Gath.
