It's really a matter of sitting down and systemically offering different
patterns and examples of period naming practices.  There's potentially a
lot of stuff that will stimulate imaginations.  I'll be glad to
contribute to the research, but it'll have to wait about a month before
I can even start.  But as Daniel has said, considering topography is a
good place to start.  If we're talking about the borders being the same
as those of the current Southern Region, then a good place to start
might be to think of ways we would characterize or describe the
territory.  Then we can find the alternative patterns and languages that
speak to the lyric need.  Surely we can find a name that satisfies both
the criteria of authenticity and beauty.
