SR - Principality Question

Suppose you created a principality but chopped off its arms and legs so
it couldn't run away someday and become a kingdom? 

Suppose it stayed close to home out of preference?

Who can say with certainty today?

Of all the principality talk in my virtual vicinity, this issue is one I
hope is resolved in favor of allowing the future to unfold naturally
without artificial restraints.
