Hi there,
We (Middleford) had offered to do one out at camp finlayson so archery could
be done. However, I do believe, that was nixed because of possible cost. I
suspose that it would be possible to do it out at the city park; however,
there could be NO archery.
GRIN, as for challenges I can only comit my own assets. However, and I
suspose that this will be taken as bragging (no brag, just fact), last year,
Lady Darcy and I made Camp Finlaysin avaliable to anyone who wanted to use
it for a war practice or seige engine practice any time we rented the site
(check it out in old Blackstars). I don't remember how many times that was,
but it was several. We also would cook breakfast for those who stayed
Saturday night. Except for maybe six people who showed up for one srfp, no
one took advantage of the offer. That's O.K, just a waste.
O.K. Let's try that again too. Between now and the next Gulf War, Lady
Darcy and I will make Camp Finlayson avaliable for SFRP, War practice, segie
engine practice, etc., the Sunday of Archery's Revel and the weekends of
each of the arrow making parties out there. I don't know the dates yet, but
there will be at least three weekends (maybe more). I will also post these
dates in the Black Star. I hope the dates will be suitable; I must deal
with my work schedule and the Camps schedule.
We will also cook (FREE) Sunday breakfast for any one who spends Saturday
night on site. In addition, each arrow making party will have a pot luck
dinner Saturday evening. We will provde the meat.
Was this something like you had in mind Lady Annora? Hope so.
Gilli

greetings one and all!!!!
after reading Sir Dieterrich's post I felt that I must put in my 2 cents
worth.so here is the first cent:
SRFP WAS GREAT! A the weather has been too hot to really do much eventing it
was a nice easy going function with lots to watch and participate in.The
shire of Tempio did a spectacular job in it's hosting of the
practice...there were several people I hadn't ever seen before, some I
haven't seen in a long time and a few I had seen only a week ago.Although I
didn't get to attend any of the classes due to driving in late from Dallas.
I did catch the tail end of some great fighting and some good food. I know
of at least 1 family who was present that had never seen the SCA or what we
do and they really had a good time..(one of gary's co-workers and her kids)
.I learned alot just in the short time that i was there as well...i will
admit i always try to learn something even if i don't really want to...on
this day I learned how to do basic drumming, baby steps to fighting heavy,
and that Baroness Suzanne can definately teach me a thing or 2 about belly
dancing..like i don't know if my body could really do all of that*grin*
But it was really great ..lots of fun.. and lots of learning with a late day
cool breeze to make things pleasant.
Now for the 2nd cent..the possibility of middleford picking up the next
SRFP..good question and I can only hope that it has a positive answer.. I
would love to have it in middleford//but then again it really makes no
difference because either way it's a 30 minute trip for...but since they
have such a good challenge maker amidst them*grins at Gilli* I would hope
that they can rise to them as well as they give them..and I also would like
to see each and every group who hosts a SRFP would put as much thought and
effort as the Sire of Tempio did... have classes..have music...have
fighting...have FOOD(and you don't have to provide...have a potluck with
each family bringing it's own meat like we had this last week it was really
good!!), but must of all HAVE FUN..LIVE THE DREAM .. AND TEACH OTHERS HOW
BETTER TO FOLLOW THEIRS..
my 2 cents
