Woohoo. Boy. Decisions *made* by the committee? In this region? Just the
thought makes me want to giggle. Heeheehee.

The committee isn't supposed to be a *representative* entity, or to do
voting on anything. It's strictly organizational and administrative work.
It would be a group of people who will work on gathering pertinent
information, editing for brevity where ever possible, and properly
disseminating it to the populace.

Someone else mentioned that it would be less than fair to set up the
committee over the net; I agree completely. However, I think it would be in
everyone's best interest to move ahead with the FAQ project, which could
very well include info about the proposed committee, suggested requirements
for serving on the committee, the possible functions of the committee, and
the names of those who have volunteered, thus far, to serve on the
committee. While I understand one suggestion for committee requirements
being net access, I don't want to alienate worthy folk from serving on the
committee for want of a computer. I would think that particular suggested
requirement could be modified to require a committee member to have either
net access or a telephone and the willingness/ financial ability to engage
in as much communication with other committee members as needed. When the
FAQs go out, they could include (along with the list of names of folk
who've already volunteered to serve on the committee) a mail-in ballot/form
for others who want to serve on the committee.

For the FAQ project, if I remember correctly, I believe our volunteers to
date are Lionardo and Timo, am I correct? At this point I'll also volunteer
to help edit the FAQ (spelling, composition, conciseness, etc.) Ideally
the FAQ will be well developed *and* sent out well in advance of the next
meeting so people will have more to discuss and be much more able to ask
informed questions. We should be able to develop a very nice initial FAQ by
late June/early July and another, more fully developed FAQ (after feedback
from the populace) by sometime in August. Lionardo, Timo, post back to
confirm if you two are still willing to team up on the FAQ. For everyone
else, feel free to toss in sample questions that you think many people
might ask.
