Baron Pendaran asked about more "Southland" type names, so I got out my
Sweet's Anglo-Saxon Reader to see what I could cobble together.
South=Su{dh} (that's an edh/eth--depends on where you get your info--at
any rate, the "th" in "this") and it goes at the front of any OE names.
Put it with various place name endings and you get:

Su{dh}land--Southland
Su{dh}ham (my personal favorite of this bunch-South home)
Su{dh}ceaster-- can't find an exact definition, but Southchester, like
an English region
Su{dh}ford--Southford
Su{dh}wudu--Southwood (it'd have to be a joke)
Su{dh}burh-South fortress (burgh)
Su{dh}brycge-Southbridge
Su{dh}scir-Southshire

Or how about Su{dh}land aet Eallabitansticanstangan: Southland where
All-bites-stabs-stings ;)!
