SR - A Question Concerning Principality

In reference to a statement made by me, Gilli stated:

	I, of course, am in the same boat as Gilli and can not say for
certain what is in the hearts of others. But I do believe that people in
the SCA are by and large good folk (and I'm sure that Gilli would agree)
and I honestly believe that in the question of the principality issue,
as with others, people are not motivated by malice. Perhaps I am an
idealist or overly optimistic, but I do think that people have good
intentions and valid reasons at heart. That's all that I was saying.

	I didn't address any of the reasons for forming a principality
as I do not think that it is proper for me to be campaigning for a
principality and trying to change people's minds. I have an opinion on
the matter that I stated, but I don't think that I should be trying to
sway other people's opinions. Now I am sure that a lot of you are
rolling your eyes and saying "yeah, right", but its quite true. I
haven't been talking to people about the issue outside of meetings, and
I certainly haven't been going to people who oppose the idea and trying
to sway them. I have several friends who are either on the fence or are
opposed to the idea of a principality and I respect their feelings and
their opinions. Furthermore, Jehanne and I have talked it over and we
have decided that as landed nobility, we should take a less public
stance on the matter than we have in the past (i.e. I have an opinion
and will give it to you if you ask, but I'm not going to be doing any
banner waving). 

	So why did I post the message that started this long thread? For
interests of discussion. I wasn't trying to show that the people against
principality had no argument, I wanted to get their reasons out in the
open so people could discuss them, that's all. Heck, I figured that it
would give those against more of a forum.
