Guten tag alles! Wanted to let you all know that just cause we're off to
war, this thing hasn't lost any steam...

I had penned:
>>I'd also like to add that I think the moderator should be someone who
either
>>did not take the poll or who abstained so as to keep this as level a
playing
>>field as possible.
>>It might be broaching confidence, but I know a certain Don in BG that sent

>>mind, old... errr... *mature*. *wink*
>>Uncle Tivar, mediate our meeting.... puhhhleeeeeeeeeeeze????

To which Uncle Tivar responded:
>
>Was that "mediate" or "marshal"? <G>
>When is the meeting? Or have you gotten that far yet?

Okay... the first meeting that everyone in the whole world who's interested
in Principalities can be informed about is going to be at Hero of the
Temple. I've typed up the informative brochures ("Oooooh, look at the
lovely stationary, Ethel") and I'm sending em off to the seneschals of ALL
the kingdom groups with potential topics of discussion taken from the list
here. These include:

1. Which groups are we talking about here? (excellent time for the two
proposed positions to make their respective pitches)
2. How do we determine if the populace wants this thing? (discuss ways to do
a polling that people will feel is a credible cross section of the people
involved)
3. What is the process involved in getting something like this started (I
recommend that Sir Lyonel has present the packet of red tape involved on
hand... perhaps with a few copies)
4. Are we willing to do the work necessary to starting- and more importantly
*sustaining*- a principality; a large enough pool of workers to sustain the
infrastructure, a large enough pool of fighters to make a list competitive,
etc.

Now, to clear up points I see coming on the list.

Pointe the Firste:
This meeting does NOT mean that we shouldn't discuss this issue wherever we
meet; we talked about it at Lyoness, we'll talk about it at Gulf War, we'll
talk about it at Crown Tourney. This is just a way to insure that
*everybody* gets a chance to be informed and have a say. Talk in small
groups ("Hey Billybob, yew herd wut them folks on that ther in ter nit wuz
talkin bout?"). Talk about it in big groups- I counted 27 people in on the
chat at Lyoness and *nobody* was shouting... well, except Mari, but she
shouts just for fun.

Pointe the Second...
Nothing done at this meeting will in any way finalize the move to form a
principality. We don't even have a good poll done yet so there is really no
way we could do that *even if we so desired*. In a similar vein, although
names and heraldry may be discussed (or is that 'disgust'?) at this meeting,
they cannot be decided on without first getting the opinions of the populace
at large and then running them by Daniel and his committee about a zillion
times. Bring your suggestions. Bring 27 color glossy coated pictures with
a description on the back describing each one. If it's good and Daniel says
it jives with the heraldic and naming muses and oracles it will likely be
included as one of the choices in yet another poll... and that is *if* the
populace digs the idea in the first place.

Okay, now what can you all do individually?

This e-mail includes nearly verbatim what is going into the letters to the
seneschals so spread it around. Oh, and turn up at Hero of the Temple and
get in on the discussion.
Oh, and spend a little time formulating some answers to the questions above
as well as thinking up any that might be left out. Oh, and after you do all
that, have a spot of fun and doodle up some more ideas for arms and names.
Oh, and eat more bran.

That's it for now,

Dieterich
