Greetings Unto All Ansteorrans:
In 5 days on Saturday, February 3
Bryn Gwlad will be holding their annual Candlemas.
This Candlemas promises many exciting and interesting activities.
The theme is "The Celebration Of Light And Courtly Love.
The year is set in 1170 Poitou, France.
Our baron, his Excellency Baron Thomas Of Tenby
has requested all artisans, bards, and rapier combatants
to come to vie for the title of baronial champions in
each of those each of these three endeavors.
Baron Thomas has received word from Eleanor of Aquitaine
her intent of holding a temporary informal court with special
activities.
She is holding an all-day competition of Courtly Love.
She is searching for winners in the three different categories
- best lord, best lady, and best couple-
those individuals who most impresses her and her ladies with their
skill
of displaying and/or performing courtly love acts during the day.
Eleanor and her ladies will decide from the combatants entered in
Bryn Gwlad's rapier baronial championship tournment who impresses them
the most with their skill of displaying and/or performing courtly
love acts
on and off the rapier field.
Eleanor and her ladies will also be advising Baron Thomas
who they think should be Bryn Gwlad's baronial rapier champion.
In addition, Eleanor and her ladies will be selecting the A&S entries
which best exemplifies the theme of courtly love.
Along with the baronial competitions and courtly love activities,
the day will be filled with an assortment of classes to choose from.
As not to leave out the youth of our kingdom, there will be
activities for
and to include them, such as the Children's A&S competition.
The evening will feature Bryn Gwlad’s traditional light dance to
illuminate the hall
followed by a fabulous feast prepared by Mistress Gwyneth Blackrose
and her staff .
During the evening feast , Eleanor and her ladies will choose the
winner(s) of the
Evening Table Setting contest. After Evening Court, dancing and
merriment will follow.
