Ivar and I are getting together tonight to discuss this SR event and will
post what we come up with, tommorow.
<p>I've mostly been reading the stuff brought up on the web. I say
mostly. Some of it makes me roll my eyes. It's nice that everyone
has ideas...but my advice is to stay calm.
<p>Realize that what people are doing is <b><i>BRAINSTORMING</i></b>.
Realize that <b><i>decisions are NOT presently being made from what is
seen on this net</i></b>. Realize that what we need NOW, at this
point, is actually three group "YES's" to get this thing rolling- before
we figure out the nitty gritty, such as how do we split the potential money
between how many groups, for an event that won't happen until about a year
from now? At the beginning of the month I suggested that someone
from each group talk to their group about whether they want and would help
sponsor/develop a regional event...did anyone?
<p>I recommend that people realize that others are not conspiring to chop
out your favorite activity. It's amazing to me that when someone who is
NOT autocrating, posts something that can help to develop an idea or concept
but leaves out a particular activity because it's not necessry for the
development of this idea, others have a fit and begin asking about that
left-out activity. Think back...what activities did the people who
will actually (probably) be stewarding this event say they would like to
have?
<p>And as for the names of the champions...someone mentions the word, "Warlord"
and it leads to offense. This is brainstorming by people who are
NOT running the event...not an attempt to undermine the King or take away
people's appointed positions! Calm responses do more to educate your
autocrats, without stressing them out....
<p>Finally, realize that those who have volunteered to autocrat are NOT
stupid people and have done quite a few events between then, including
at least one multi-group event. Realize that the goal of your
autocrats is to make a very special event that will hold up over time...and
that we will WILL be getting lots of input from the populous. Realize
that as experienced Autocrats, we KNOW that we will have to figure out
the money, and where to put the event, and such things. Realize,
finally, that with all of what has gone on on this net, at this point both
of us feel as if we are being pecked to death by sparrows. Or nibbled
by rats...but I'd rather see y'all as sparrows.
