[Stargate] [Hou-announce] populace meetings

Being in the gimp squad at the moment, I had to miss the Pop Mtg, so I hadn't heard they were closing earlier. That certainly is problematic, as we may be officially done by 8:30, but much business still gets taken care of after the full meeting, by officers who otherwise don't get to see each other, and by pop members needing to talk to various ones.

The food I never worry about, since I have always understood that it is specifically NOT required that we buy food there, and I only sometimes do. Plus the other options we are discussing would appear not to involve food availability, so no change for those who don't eat, and removal of an option for those who might want to - unless I'm mistaken and we actually are supposed to be buying food. Otherwise, if it's bad, I just won't eat it.

If we could find another restaurant that has an extra room, is still fairly near the loop so it is central to all, is easily accessible from a freeway, doesn't charge, and has better food, I'm all for it - no specific attachment to Ryan's here, certainly - but I'm just not sure where that would be exactly...there are a lot of restaurants up and down 290, for instance, including a bunch of chains - perhaps one of them has a party room? The main problem with most restaurants is that you have to be *served*, which would be very disruptive. Some sort of buffet arrangement, or some understanding that we aren't going to have service during the meeting, would be necessary. And of course there's the 'free' part - I'm really against spending 100s of our hard earned and not that plentiful bucks on a meeting room unless there is literally no alternative.

My tuppence,
Merewyn
