[Stargate] One more thought on Populace

I believe that you, Melody, have MISREAD my email post to the moving of populace and I ENCOURAGE you to re-read the ORIGINAL Jan 4th post and not the snip that was attached to your email (below). I believe that I said that a move to any of Perronelle's identified locations or somewhere between the Loop and Belt on I-10 would be great and produce a "shared burden" of driving for all. In "all" I included all Stargate and Westgate and yes, Gate's Edge (who do come to our meetings still as neighbors and friends just as I attend theirs). I wish to exclude no one from our meetings due to location, including myself who lives nearer to Downtown off 290. In the last populace meeting several of us expressed that an I-10 location would be very convenient to all of the Barony, including the Universities to which hopes of outreach efforts do exist.

And thank you I do unnderstand the difference from a Canton and Shire and Barony. I just see us all as a regional community who helps out each other and has fun together. I did not say that Westgate was not part of Stargate only that as a Westgate resident you have another closeby opportynity to attend a populace meeting, Westgate's, where as I have only the one opportunity to attend a meeting in which I have official membership, the Stargate meetings. That is why at the meeting I express that it would be very difficult for me to attend a Stargate meeting that was outside the belt particularly if it was on Richmond which was suggested in someone's email. Traffic going from Downtown to the Beltway (evening rush hour) is very bad.

Greetings Cristyana and fellow Stargaters,

I'm not certain, Christyana, if you understand the difference between a 
canton (part of a barony) and a shire (an independent group).  Westgate is 
part of Stargate and its members are members of Stargate.  Stargate Populace 
meeting IS our populace meeting too.   Part of the job of our officers is to 
attend both Stargate Populace and Stargate Business Meetings.  Unlike Gate's 
Edge, Westgate cannot and does no exist without Stargate, nor do its members 
wish to.

Also, please allow me to clarify our family's personal position.  Yes, 
adding evening commitments during the week is difficult for our family but 
not impossible.  The thing that made attendance at Stargate Populace meeting 
impossible for us was the location and the approximately one hour and 
forty-five minute round-trip commute.  The worst culpret in that drive time 
is not actually the distance but the fact that the location is so near 290 
and the West Loop--the most congested part of Houston rush-hour traffic.

Quite frankly, I am astounded that you are the second person to object to at 
least considering moving the meeting closer to the population center of 
Stargate.  Please consider not only those who currently attend, but also 
those who may attend in the future or at least would attend if the meeting 
were better located.

I recognize that there is no easy answer and certainly there will never be a 
time and location that is optimal for every one but let's not pretend that 
the members of Westgate are not part of Stargate.  Personally, I think that 
a move, in ANY direction, away from the traffic nightmare that is 290 and 
the West Loop, would likely result in an easier commute to Populace for most 
of us.

Just a little change for your dollar.  ;-)
