[Stargate] The SCA we Play today

Welll, Hmmmmm, I wasnt on the list 2 weeks ago so thanks for bringing it back up  so I can comment .
  Im newly returned from a long abscence ( bet I mispelled that word) and I have to tell ya, I see Less persona play now than when I was here before, and there was less after the last break than there was before it. Now , before anyone loads a gun and goes Wulf hunting, I didnt say there was none , but that it seems to be even less prevalent. Hey, this is partly my fault for getting sidetracked by life and not hanging in there to see that what I liked most kept going on. 
         It does seem to me that this is less a recreationist group than a set of themed competitions where we pick our "uniform" and dress appropriately. Is there a single Leigeman to our current Baron and Baroness? Once they had a whole guard. Has anyone seen a fighter that was just " killed" fall down lately? We used to have " Best Death" contests( not something i recomend by the way , they used to make for really corny and silly  things happening on the field). When did it get to be Ok to chit chat about computers and mundane jobs, standing by the Listfield where folks were trying to hold a Medieval tournament?
      I love competing in the Bardic but I think when Documentation is more important than the quality of performance , we have missed the point . I love fighting in tourneys and melees ( not that Im going to "live" through either one) but it does sadden me that when I "die" I have a marshal rushing over to me to see if Im really hurt. I guess what Im saying is " What happened folks ?"
