Good to hear from you Mistress. Good advice too. You may not remember me but this Charisma of Constantinople. I now live in the dorm across the street from where we practice illumination. Unfortunately I have classes on Tues and Thurs nights so I can not attend your class. I have been to one of the gem shows that you talking about and I have picked up real freshwater pearls for practically nothing. You could spend 50 or more $ and receive a great number of pearls. Fire mountain gems are really great quality and reasonably priced. I have never tried ship wreck pearls but I imagine that they are pretty good.

Hopefully I will be able to get out to an event soon.
  Until then take care

Couple of good options for you to check out:
1. Wait for the large Intergem Show at Reliant Center at Reliant Park, in
Houston, TX - October 26-28, 2007 . The October show is typically the largest show of the year, just before the holidays. I sometimes have free tickets, tho you still have to pay for parking.

2. If you have a wholesale license, check out 'Big Stone' suppliers, they have a store in the Richmond jewelry building, near Hillcroft. I haven't been in years, but they usually have a $50. minimum purchase, and you will have to fill out the sales tax exemption form, if you haven't done business with them before. They carry pearls, simi-precious beads and cabachons, and really nice glass pearls (faux), as well as silver findings and beads. And the prices are very nice.

3. Order from Fire-Mountain Gems, they are online and have catalog and a lot of sales. They are not always the cheepest, but have lots of variety. http://www.firemountaingems.com/

4. Try out Shipwreck Beads, also have an online and catalog.

Good luck, can't wait to see the gown,
Cheers, Hillary

Hi!

I'm starting work on my Elizabethan for Stargate Yule and I'm wanting to sew pearls (both seed and the some larger ones) onto my dress. Where should I go to buy them, either online or in person?

Thanks!

Jennette
