[Stargate] Baronial Brainstorming

Greetings to the Populace of Stargate and friends,

On July 30th, Their Sentinel Excellencies hosted a brainstorming session to
come up with a list of ideas/projects for improving various aspects of our
barony.  Below are five lists targeting the topics of Identity, Fun,
Retention, Recruitment, and Communication.  Please take some time to review
the ideas.  At *SEPTEMBER'S* Populace meeting, we will conduct a polling to
identify the key projects the barony would like to address.  If you were not
at the brainstorming meeting, but have other ideas you think should be
considered.  Please send them to stargate.seneschal at gmail.com by August 22nd
and they will be included for the polling.  Merits/Flaws of ideas are not
being addressed at this time, nor what has (or has not) worked in the
past.  All ideas are welcome!

FUN:
1. Variation on newcomers' revel for those with 3 or less years within the
baronial community.
2. Move around the location of meetings.
3. More social events/activities (revels, movie night, bowling, dinners,
etc).
4. Encourage everyone to come out to activities, even if they aren't direct
participants (like fighter practice where people came to socialize even if
they didn't fight).
5. Encourage more indoor group activities during summer (instead of Arts in
the Park, try Arts in the Hall).

BARONIAL IDENTITY:
1. Belt favors for Stargate populi
2. Encourage the wearing of Stargate livery
3. Camping together at camping events/wars
4. Stargate sign (in development)
5. Stargate pavilion to serve as the baronial "community center" at events
6. Encourage a baronial persona unity (Stargate was largely a Celtic group
when it started)
7. Webpage development: show more, rather than tell more. (add more
pictures: officers, activities, guilds, etc)
8. Stargate hospitality
9. Tower showers

COMMUNICATION:
1. Domesday update
2. Encourage better attachment to new people in area
3. Newcomer household
4. Newsletter mailed out again w/ no paid subscription
5. Demographics study
6. Phone Tree
7. Postcards

RECRUITMENT:
1. Engaging newcomers as retinue
2. Public flyers at shops/colleges/workplaces
3. Bookmarks to take to libraries/bookshops/etc
4. Weekend demos (rather than weekday demos)
5. Dress up for walkathons and begathons
6. Newcomers meetings (not just for newcomers!)
7. Newcomer revels (persona development parties)
8. College clubs

RETENTION
1. Annual raffle with tickets given throughout the year
2. More hugs
3. More wordfame (for more than just awards)
4. More "pats on the back"
5. More social interaction at Populace - hostpitality table
6. Classes, skits/morality plays, show & tell populace activities
