Two cents.
Bear Creek park is heavily used on the weekends, and has a diversity of amenities.
It has an equestrian area, with fairly near by restroom facilities, if you want to include the equestrians.
It has several playground areas, if you want to make fighter practice more family friendly.  These are also in high traffic areas if you want to recruit.  Though the people I usually see at Bear Creek park are more interested in soccer than the SCA.  Pavilions can also be reserved (free, I think) for shade, or dance, or practice during inclement weather.  I recommend Pavilions 7 or 8.  We used these for some scouting activities.

Have you considered Terry Hershey Park?  It's a long hike & bike trail that runs along the bayou / Memorial Drive.  There are two main parking areas.  The one on highway 6 has a large open field w/ gazebos, but I'm not sure about restrooms.  The parking area on Memorial, has a play ground, restrooms and an area that might be ideal for fighting and recruiting - you can see it from I-10.

Harris County Precinct 3 has about 70 parks, each with unique features.  For example: Nottingham Park, across the street from where Rhodri and Cadi lived (for those of you who remember those days) has a cool splash park that would be great to cool off under after an afternoon of fighting.  You could almost rotate through a different park every month, and find out at which one the SCA is most welcomed.  http://www.pct3.hctx.net/aboutprecinct/parklocations.aspx

As you may or not be aware, we were booted out of the Menil park, something about it being privately owned, and a park for peace and retrospection? I don't know...  : p

Anyway, the regional knight's marshal has suggested Bear Creek park, so I am going there tomorrow to check it out and see how things look.

The MoAS is unable to attend for personal reasons, but I think it would be nice if we could get those who would be interested in doing arts in the park there as well, so you can give your .02 worth.

this will be discussed and a decision made at the meeting Monday. I appreciate any feedback I can get, as this effects more than just me, or just the fighters.

thank you,

Orin
