A Transformative Partnership: Horses and Humans

The partnership between humans and horses goes back much further than we thought.  Domestication of the horse in the Arabic world radically transformed communication, trade and warfare and helped further an exchange of art and ideas.  An important 9000 year-old sculpture depicting a horse with what may be a bridle, recently found in Saudi Arabia, demonstrates how artistic depictions may upend prevailing theories about the interaction between humans and horses.

Do you remember the first time you saw a horse?  Horses made people stronger and freer than they’d ever been.  First, learn about how horses and people work together in the world of the desert Bedouin.  See a display of weapons and objects from Bedouin tents.  Then gallop off on your own adventure through the museum to explore horses in art.
