Greetings To All Good Nobles and Gentles That This Message Comes To

We have another opportunity to impart our knowledge to younger minds on
the horizon.

We have been requested to attend the "First Annual Catapult Competition
Day" at Westwood Junior High, 7630 Arapaho Road (at Meandering Way),
Richardson, Texas, 75248, on Tuesday, May 1, 2001, from 1:00 to 3:00 pm

A math teacher has assigned two of his ninth grade Geometry classes to
build catapults to study trajectory and other math problems.  He has
asked us to attend the competition in the afternoon, however, morning
visitors are also welcome, as that is when ". . .the contestants will be
setting up their encampments and siege engines.  We are doing simple
catapults, and the kids wanted to be able to set up tents for extra
points.  Hopefully, some of the kids will dress up . . ."

"Any of your company are welcome to attend in costume, and an added
benefit and blessing upon this royal kingdom.  I would love for any of
your 'specialists', i.e. archers, armourers and such to talk to the kids
as much as possible, and that would work best in the a.m."

I have already visited one of the classes, and volunteered several of my
Tournaments Illuminated as resource materials.  A few of the students
already seem interested in future studies outside the classroom.

This is not a request to "entertain" a class of 10 or 12 year olds.  ". .
. these are the first attempts and they are being done by completely
novice ninth grade students.  Please ask your lords and ladies  to be as
generous with complements and praise as possible."  

Please contact me privately to let me know what time during the day you
are able to attend the competition.  Or if you cannot attend, are you
available to answer questions via e-mail (either directly or through me)
over the next few weeks?
