[Steppes] Question on sealant

It there anyone that might be able to walk me thru their footsteps -

I am finishing a drinking horn - I am to the part where I want to seal the
inside - it holds water no problem but I want to make sure. I have thought
about polyurethane - is that ok? OR will that contaminate the drink?. are
there other suggestions on how to seal it?
