I live in Fort worth near the mall off 820 and every weekend I drive to
eastfield to play with the archers - the times we have picnics at flagpole I
drive there as well. If there was to be solid practices at flagpole, I would
be there as much as I could be - I think it a grand idea to put all SCA
activities in a small area if not the same area. To me, the dream is to show
off all we do and the more we have everything in one place - the more
interest it will stir up. I will be there.

Can't answer for everyone or to everything but of those archers that
regularly show up at practice now many- including myself- would happily come
by after archery. We have even had combat archery there in the past. I also
would like to fight light and heavy weapons somewhat but have limited time
to do so. Flag Pole Hill is doable for me although I live a good 40 minutes
away by expressway in extreme south Mesquite. I was just starting to attend
regularly when it was moved and have not been since then due to distance and
travel time.

What say the other archers and artisans? What little I saw before the move
was motivating me to show up and get more involved in things other than
archery and it was a regular convenient location to do so and I could easily
tell my friends where to go as well.

  A couple of weeks ago I went with Miguel and Conal
to look at parks. Here is the criteria we used to
rate them.
  * large enough space to play
  * amount of shade
  * bathrooms
  * parking
  * archery
  * equestrian
 We looked at many parks in Richardson and Dallas. A
few met some of our requirements. Flag Pole Hill is
the only place that met almost all of them. It is at
least close to Archery practice and equestrian is
allowed. The down side of the Hill is that it has
porta potties and some of the picnic table need
repair. The parking is average for parks.
  The point of this is what is best for our barony.
Will moving it back bring out our artisans on Sunday?
Will the archers come by after their practice? Will
we have weekly picnics? Will it bring out the bards?
Is it possible to bring back the Sunday Gatherings we
newcomers hear about? None of these things are
happening at our current location. I have heard these
things used to happen at the Hill.
