Subject: Fiore Seminar in Denton Texas.

Hi.

Western Martial Arts
A Two Day Wrestling and Dagger Workshop with applications to Spear and
Pollarm from

Fiore Dei Liberi's Fior di Battaglia
Bob Charron, Instructor, St. Martins Academy and noted
translator/interpreter of Flor di Battaglia.
AKA
Conn MacNiell, Duke, Viscount, Knight and Master of the Order of the Laurel

February 15th and 16th, 2003, Optimist Club, Denton TX

Fiore Dei Liberi was born in the middle of the 14th century in Northeastern
Italy. He studied the art of arms for over 40 years and was the instructor
at arms to the household of the Marquise da Ferrara. His treatise, the Fior
di Battaglia (Flower of Battle, circa 1409), is a complete martial arts
system, using everyday postures ("posta") as a base for strikes, locks, and
throws, for both armed and unarmed combat. This book is the western
equivalent of the ryu scrolls used in Japan and Bob has worked on a copy
extensively noted by one of Liberi's students.

The seminar will be an intensive two-day introduction to the wrestling and
dagger portion of the manuscript, with applications shown to the sword,
spear and polearm which will give the attendee both an overview of the
method and a deep understanding of how to apply the "posta" of the system to
real life and modern tools as well as to the SCS list. Fiore's method is
more than a curiosity but instead is applicable today when written.

The training will be held at the Optimist Gym on N. Elm in Denton from 9 to
5 Cost forboth days is $100 and participants will sign a safety waiver.
Students should wear comfortable clothing, and should, if possible, bring a
15" dowel. Work gloves are recommended.
