My first response is that you should invest in multiple pairs of comfortable shoes/boots.  You'll be walking a lot, and if you have shoes that are uncomfortable at the end of a weekend event, you'll be miserable by the end of the war.  Wearing different shoes on different days can help too.  It may be a little expensive, but I've found it's well worth the cost.
If I think of other things, I'll post them.
