[Steppes] Saree History or garb in general

did not see an attachement with this.  I am curious now about what matches and what does not in terms of persona, period, and garb since I have been starting to try to zero in more on my own (male) garb to the proper period and region of Europe to match the persona I am developing.  Period or fashion police do not worry me <as those that know me acknowledge :-) > but I would like to know more about the way such things would filter into Europe since that is where my persona is based. Gotta admit, though, I do not think I want to try the long toed shoes with the toes attached to the knees.   Seems impractical and I am less than graceful as it is.  :-)

To formalize my question, though- how much dress from other parts of the world filtered into Europe and when?  Can someone help me out on this?  I am sure much was hinged on the Crusades and the voyages of exploration and I have seen some of the references indicating what a Frank noble would wear and the like but little on the migration of garb from other parts of the world.

Lady Alienor, you have totally come thru!!!!

I wanted to pass this along for everybody who wants to wear a Sari for
Warlord.  The question of "Period?" came up....well, guess what?
How about 5,000 years of history?
This site is a great brief history, pics included.....should even make a
period policeman happy.
I guess documenting a 5-9 yard length of fabric with no cuts or stitches
is
pretty easy, huh?
