Subject: [Steppes] To the Steppes

I have seen some very creative and wondrous stories of personaes posted
lately. Would that they could be communicated- especially to new comers as
well as those that have been around for a year or two. Perhaps some of you
might submit them to the Steppes Letter? (Submissions are due immediately
for next month BTW) And perhaps someone would be kind enough to gather them
as they are posted and create a small record of some of our stories.

A written missive does not take the place of a spoken conversation but, for
me, it gives me a starting place for a conversation that can be wonderfully
inventive as well as informative and can allow me to go directly to someone
who has a personae and knowledge that I may be interested in. The ensuing
conversation can allow even more detail to be filled in. For myself it will
also force me to fill in more detail of my past.

For now:
I am Lord Jacques the Spink a wandering son of nobility from southeastern
France. Having fulfilled my familial obligations I escaped a long arranged
marriage upon my wifes death and have sought to fulfill a lifelong dream of
becoming an archer. I came to the Steppes to learn from those that are
expert at it (the French are NOT noted archers) as evidenced by their many
honors in the field of archery. If you ask I might reveal my family name.
My name of "the Spink" came about as the result of wandering the English
countryside and an unfortunate misunderstanding between myself and the folk
in one area at a time when my funds were a bit low.

I have learned much and have even started to learn the use of the crossbow
although outlawed by our good Pope as an instrument of the dark forces of
evil. It may still, however, be used against infidels of which there are
many in the Kingdom of Meridies to the Southeast. I shall be ready to help
my adopted land the next time they shall intrude upon our lands.

Lord Jacques the Spink
Kings Archer
