Actually, you can get a rather period looking one at Walmart in the garden
section for under $200.

Your enthusiasm is admirable, but I would caution you to slow down a bit.
Pavilions are a big expense. You might try using a regular tent for a while
until you are sure that this is the thing for you. We have several events
during the yearin the area that last for a whole weekend, and then there is
Gulf War that happens over spring Break in Mississippi and lasts for a week.
That is a war between Ansteorra and Trimaris, I believe. I have not yet
been to one, but hope to go to the next one. We have a big event over
Memorial day weekend called Steppes Warlord. Come to a few meetings and get
acquainted. Then you can find out what you need to get started and you can
hook up with someone to camp with for your first event so that they can show
you the ropes.

This can be a very expensive, but very fun game to play. Pace your expenses
a bit. Discover what you want to get out of the game, and what you are
willing to put into it. Take your time. You dont have to enter with a fully
developed persona and all the accoutrements. We don't want you to burn
yourself, or your pocketbook, out.

I haven't even officially joined or even attended a meeting, but I am
already looking at pavilions, and looking at pictures of Pennsic with great
envy.. Along those lines I have a couple of questions.

1. Is there a local version of Pennsic?

2. I saw a picture of a wall tent that had woven wattle for sides, and I
thought that was pretty cool looking, the question that comes to mind is
what would you use for wattle in the North TX area?

Thanks..

Stosh Gypsy
